Your Resume Will Get You Screened Out Before a Human Ever Reads It

CBP requires a USAJobs federal resume — not a traditional one-pager. Federal resumes are multi-page, keyword-optimized documents that must be formatted to survive automated screening. BadgePrep's Federal Resume Builder generates CBP-specific resumes in the format federal HR expects.

What Gets People Rejected

These are the most common reasons candidates are disqualified or eliminated from the CBP hiring process. Avoid every one of them.

Drug use in the past 3 years — CBP's mandatory polygraph will surface this, and recent use is typically disqualifying.

Submitting a traditional resume instead of a properly formatted federal resume with full job descriptions and hours per week.

Failing the CBP entrance exam — many candidates don't prepare for the arithmetic reasoning section.

Financial instability: unresolved debts, judgments, or a history of financial irresponsibility raise integrity concerns.

Dual citizenship or significant foreign ties that complicate the background investigation and security clearance.
